The ValvTechnologies V1-1 design is the core valve by which all other metal seated ball valves are measured. The V1-1 features integral seats, HVOF RiTech™ hard coatings, a blow-out proof stem and liveloaded packing. The V1-1 is primarily used in high energy applications in the power industry and is available in sizes from 1/4” to 4” and in ASME/ANSI pressure classes 900 to 4500, including interpolated and special ratings. V1-1 valves are manufactured in a variety of forged materials and end connections to meet our customers’ specifications. Most importantly, every V1-1 valve for power industry applications is backed by the ValvTechnologies’ four-year zero-leakage guarantee.
The exterior components of ValvTechnologies’ valves are coated with HVOF RiTech™ hardcoating that offer sealing surfaces that are protected from flow induced erosion. The stem is sealed against leakage between the body by a live-loaded Grafoil packing with stainless steel mesh extrusion protectors on the top and bottom. The live-loading packing controls fugitive emissions and prevents any serious packing problem of over or under tightening. The integral seat design providers improved performance over conventional replacement seats and eliminates leakage. In addition to providing superior valve components, ValvTechnologies backs its parts by offering a four year, zero-leakage guarantee.

ValvTechnologies’ exclusive packing design offers die-formed 316SS wire mesh, anti-extrusion top and bottom rings with a Grafoil center ring and has a minimum four bolt flange design. The live-loaded design also offers twice the standard loading and eliminates maintenance and stem packing leaks.
HVOF RiTech™ Coating
The sealing surfaces, ball and integral seat of ValvTechnologies valves are coated with a super-hard chrome carbide alloy and then diamond lapped for a precision fit using a hydrogen fueled system. The hydrogen provides the best quality of all HVOF coatings. The coatings are extremely resistant to attack by catalysts, abrasives and corrosives fluids, provide exceptional hardness (70 on the Rockwell C Scole) and offers temperature ratings to 1800℉.

Blow-Out Proof Stem
The one-piece, blow-out proof stem is hardfaced and polished with a surface hardness of 60 RC to prevent galling. The stem does not rely on pins or collars and is inserted through the body cavity and guided by the hard-faced gland.
The body seal is designed to be positioned out of the flow path, protecting it during the cycling. The split body design allows for the convenience of inline repair-ability. Located away from the flow path, the 17-4 ph body gasket is self-energized, features a crush style design with a graphite overlay for the ease of assembling. Since the body gasket is located away from the flow path, the high velocity flow from the valve (when in the open position) does not affect the body gasket area in any way. Additionally, the body gasket stresses in a separate nose cone of the end cap and therefore not affected by the seat sealing forces or the packing area.
The ball of the valve is a high strength alloy with chrome carbide HVOF RiTech™ hardcoating (66-69 RC hardness) diamond lapped to ensure bubble tight shut-off.
The integral seat design of ValvTechnologies valves improves performance over conventional replacement seats and offers absolute zero-leakage. The seat is also self cleaning, coated with the chrome carbide HVOF RiTech™ hardcoating and is protected from flow media in both the open and closed positions because the seat is located away from the flow path.
The upstream seat of the valve is a high strength alloy with nitride coating to prevent galling that transfers the Belleville Spring load to the ball.
The Belleville Spring is the heart of the valve, featuring an Inconel 718 material that keeps the ball in contact with the integral seat, preventing ingress of the process between the ball and seat. The spring is designed so the stresses in the spring do not exceed yield and creep conditions after the initial spring seat. This ensures a long term spring load; which is not common in typical Belleville Spring designs.
The gland packing set consists of 316SS wire mesh, top and bottom anti-extrusion rings with a nuclear grade Grafoil center ring. The packing set is live-loaded, eliminating maintenance and is able to hold constant pressure without adjustment.
The body is the primary pressure boundary and requires zero maintenance and is available with socket weld or butt weld ends with Graylock® Hubs quick disconnect and other end connections.
The four-bolt gland flange evenly distributes the force of the live-loaded gland bolting and is a bearing for the stem. The gland is also hardfaced, nitrided to prevent galling.
The integral seat is machined into the end cap, eliminating the potential for leaks between a loose seat and the valve body.
